White-crested Laughingthrush (Garrulax leucolophus)

Interesting :

The male and female of the White-crested Laughingthrush have the same characteristics which have the body size of approximately 30 centimeters. Feathers on its back are reddish brown. The head and the stomach hair are white; especially there is the fluffy white hair on its head.

Habitat :

Can be found in Asia near India and Indochina. In Thailand, it can be found in the North, the West, and some part of the Northeast, except in the South.

Food :

The White-crested Laughingthrush eats forest fruit and insect for its food.

Behavior :

Likes to stay together in a small troop in the sparse forest, bamboo forest, and groove wood. It can quickly jump back and forth between the branches. It sometimes jumps on the ground and walks on the ground. It is the bird that can sing beautifully and can make different noise.

Current Status :

Nearly becomes extinct. It is categorized as a protected wild animal according to Wild Animals Preservation and Protection Act B.E. 2535

Reproductive :
